Magic Kingdom General Update - June 19, 2011

Time for a new Magic Kingdom update! This week, we'll take a look at the work being done in Frontierland, Tomorrowland, and other miscellaneous refurbishments throughout the park. If you are looking for pictures of the new Fantasyland, you should go and check out our latest Fantasyland update.

With that being said, let's start, as usual, from the great Main Street U.S.A. station, which stands as a gateway to the park's six lands (yeas, Mickey's Toontown Fair is gone, remember?):

Every time I look at the Town Square Theater, I realize how great it looks, after the year-long refurbishment:

The Confectionery is also finally tarp-free! We'll check it out on a separate update!:

The Engine Co. 71, also known as the Firehouse gift shop, is leaving soon. As for the Confectionery, this will need a separate update, that we'll soon post as a tribute (Click here to know more about the shop's closure):

Heading to the Central Hub:

Isn't it time to get rid of this "Celebrate Today!" stuff? It is getting way too repetitive:

Moving deep into the Polynesian Jungle:

The Enchanted Tiki Room, still under its extensive rehab:

It looks they're going to build something more in the pre-show area... Can't wait to know more!:

Part of the roof of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad's queue has been re-roofed:

A closer look:

There's still something that needs to be done:

Work is well underway on Pecos Bill's facade:

Some very nice, themed sign on the walls:

This side has already been refurbished:

The tarp continues all the way to the Goldroad Stage Line building, right next to Pecos Bill:

Frontierland's Shootin' Arcade is down for a really extensive refurbishment. It will open on October 1, 2011:

Here's how it looked:

Work on the entrance to the Liberty Square Riverboat Landing:

In Tomorrowland, work continues on the location of the big spinning ball:

From these really blurry pictures, it looks like they're preparing the ground to put the ball back! Great to see that, as some rumors were indicating that the ball would not be returning:

Club 626:

The Carousel of Progress sign is finally back:

BEFORE:

NOW:

The only thing that concerns us is the lack of the display that used to show the current year... I was hoping they would make it an LED display, but it looks like they chose to completely get rid of it:

It looks great anyway:

The gear that used to show the current year is really crooked, though:

Outside the park, work continues on the bus stops:

Also, here you are a good view of the new monorail beam:

This will be our last update on this monorail beam, as work is done here:

Thanks for viewing this new update!

As usual, we'd like to leave you by reminding you that we continue to do our best in keeping you up-to-date with all the news and rumors from the parks, and continually post photo-updates, even on weekends, just like this one, so if you would like to show us your appreciation the hard work we do, please consider making a small donation, by clicking HERE. Also, remember that, if you want, you can join our Facebook page and post comments at the end of the post. Thanks again for viewing, and have a great day!

  1. I feel like they have been working on the MK bus stops forever. What are they doing to them? Any major changes?

  4. Does anyone know if the new monorail is going to a different resort or just adding another monorail for wait-time issues?

  5. Brittney,
If I remember rightly, it is purely for the maintainence track, so nothing new for the public.

I also agree that a HM update would be awesome in future too :)

    Great work!
