A sad news has been released by the Universal Orlando Resort. Indeed, it looks like the company's store located inside the famous Festival Bay Mall (which will soon receive a major renovation) will soon close:

Universal Orlando Resort Store at Festival Bay Mall Set to Close
The Universal Orlando Resort store at Festival Bay Mall is scheduled to close on Monday, April 30, 2012. In preparation for the closure, the store will be offering 75% off the lowest ticketed price on previously marked down product for all Team Members beginning Sunday, March 11. The Universal Orlando Resort Store at Festival Bay Mall is located just minutes away on 5250 International Drive. For more information, call the store directly at 407-351-1926. Festival Bay needs more than just a renovation. Its never really found its identity, not sure whether to be a shopping district or entertainment district, and unlike similar Pointe Orlando, has never managed to get more than 2/3 of its units occupied. the lack of a dedicated food court gives it a somewhat disjointed feeling too.
ReplyDeletewhenever i've visited its always been eerily quiet, which is rather disquieting and doesn't inspire me to return (in fact, its only the vans shop that has ever found me going back)
I sometimes think it would be better to flatten Festival Bay and replace it with something more appealing - like the Orlando Thrill Park!
