Old Town Update - The Renaissance is Beginning

OK, maybe it is a bit to early to make such a statement, but it looks like Old Town is finally starting its long-due renovation that we were all waiting for. Indeed, quite a few new rides and attractions are moving in, and they cover both families and teenagers. Let's see what they're doing in this regard:

The first thing that we notice is that Old Town's sign on the Ferris Wheel has been repainted:

Here's a photo-comparison of the sign:

BEFORE:

AFTER:

It looks very nice:

Near the Ferris Wheel, work has finally started on the new zip line/ ropes course/rock wall area:

All the materials are here, ready to go vertical:

Also, the new attraction that was announced on Screamscape, the arm full tilt thrill ride, has arrived:

It is called "The Flying Dutchman":

It looks a brand-new ride, not a reused one:

A closer look:

A look at the restraints, for those who are concerned about them:

Here, it looks like they will add some new games:

Do you remember how we discussed about how inappropriate the new Old Town logo was, because it stated that it was a THEME park (which is absolutely not true)? Well, they changed it:

It now says "Adventure Park". That's much better:

This is the third logo change in two years. Take a look:

1st Change:

2nd change:

Current Logo, which is a mix of the previous two:

The prices on the ticket booth already list the new attractions:

The "AMPventure Experience" includes the Zip-line, the Adventure course, and the rock climbing wall.
They also put the new "Flying Dutchman" thrill ride:

Continuing through the park, we find the construction of yet another stage:

We'll have to wait to see what they are planning to do... :

Old Town's streets look cleaner:

One of the park's newest stores is exactly what everybody wants to see: themed, quality shops:

The ticket store at Old Town is now the Welcome Center:

This had to become an indoor mini-golf, and it's now a "Bopping Heads" Dance Video store...

The back section of the park still needs a lot of attention, as many of those rides are in shameful conditions. of course, they need time to do this, as they're working on the front of the park first, and we agree with them on this move, as the front of the park is more visited, and it is part of the marketing strategy of the park (people think that the look of the front should reflect the look of the rest of the park):

To conclude, it looks like a lot of things are going on at Old Town. Are they done? Far from it! There are still a lot of things that need to be fixed, but we can say that they're on the right track.

  2. I am glad to hear they are renovating. I remember growing up in the area and used to love the Saturday night old car show with oldies music. I visited there last December and was almost sick to see how run down and cheap it looked. While I don't think it is going back to my opinion of the glory days, this is very welcome.
